cyclotest® Contraceptive Monitor - Technical Questions

 

Although simple to use, we know from our experience in coaching our cyclotest® users that there will always be a few questions about it's correct use and a few unique situations where advice is usually sought. Here we have listed a few of the frequently asked questions from our cyclotest® users.

1, How do I keep my cyclotest® in good condition?

The flexible part of the sensor is waterproof, the rest of the sensor and the unit may only be wiped with a moistened cloth. The unit is not waterproof and must not be immersed in water! Clean the unit with a moistened cloth and a mild cleaning agent. You may use ethyl alcohol (available from all good pharmacies) for disinfection. Do not expose the thermometer to extreme heat (blazing sun, heating, boiling water, etc.).

2, Can I share my data with my gynaecologist?

With the integrated USB port and additional software it‘s possible to download the data of the current cycle from the unit and create your fertility profile as a PDF document. This can then be printed or emailed to your gynaecologist to analyse. This is a huge positive point for cyclotest® users as it is a goldmine of data for any Doctor or Gyno.

3, How do I download my fertility profile?

Downloading the data to a PC requires having the correct software installed with the correct drivers. This is no different to if you wanted to sync your mobile phone with your PC, software and drivers are always needed first.

Installing a new piece of software on your PC should usually be a simple affair but lets face it, some of us are tech savvy and some of us are not. Add to that thousands of different computers, different operating systems and quirky versions of Windows, the scope for someone having a pop up they don't understand increases. 

As long as you read the instructions carefully and follow each step in the right sequence you shouldn’t have any problems.  The key is to download the drivers for the USB port BEFORE you put the installation CD into your computer.

1, Connect the supplied USB Cable to your computer;

2, Then connect the other end of the USB Cable to your Cyclotest (you may get a pop up message on your computer that says “new hardware found”)

3, Press the large round Measurement Buttonat the same time as the small round Cycle Start Button for approx. 3 seconds until the “USB” appears in the display (top right)

You will then see a window appear on your computer screen “Found New Hardware Wizard”

[Please note that the above installation procedure may differ slightly depending on which operating system you are using - Windows reserves the right to be quirky and unpredictable! ]

Once you get this far, you then revert back to your instruction manual and follow the instructions

4, Do I need to take my temperature every day of my cycle?

With cyclotest you dont need to take your temperature readings after ovulation has been identified which makes it more convenient to use than many other cycle monitors.

 

However, it is recommended that you take your temperature for all of the days of your cycle for two reasons;

 

1, you stay in the good habit of taking your BBT reading every morning and

2, the profile of your BBT readings after ovulation can diagnose pregnancy. 

A great and continuous increase in BBT after fertilisation of the egg can be easily detected by cyclotest at which point it shares the good news with you! It does this by showing the two baby symbols simultaneously (doesn't mean twins!!!) and all of the black bars below are displayed. 

With Fertility Awareness only about a weeks worth of post-conception temperature data is needed to identify pregnancy. That's quicker than most pregnancy tests!

5, Does cyclotest® come with a warranty?

The device has been manufactured and tested with great care. However, in the unlikely event of a defect being detected after delivery, we provide warranty in accordance with the following terms and conditions:

 

• During the warranty period of 2 years from the date of purchase we reserve the right either to repair any such defect at our expense (upon return of the unit to our factory) or to supply a perfect replacement unit.
• Excluded from the warranty are parts subject to normal wear and tear as well as damage caused by non-compliance with the instructions for use, improper handling (e.g. unsuitable power sources, breakages, leaking batteries) and/or disassembly of the unit by the purchaser. Furthermore, no claims for damages against us are substantiated by the warranty.
• Warranty claims can only be advanced in the warranty period and by presenting proof of purchase. In the event of a warranty claim, the unit must be sent to the following address together with the proof of purchase and a description of the complaint:

6, What if I still have questions?

You have no doubt read our instructions for using cyclotest® carefully and familiarised yourself with the functions. Our description corresponds to the normal cycle response. While dealing with your cyclotest® you may notice initially some readings and information in the dialogue display that appear unfamiliar to you, or you may have questions about handling the unit.
